ERIC via EBSCO upgrades

We are pleased to announce that the 2006 ERIC reload and data format change has been completed and the up-to-date version of the database is now available on EBSCOhost. Records marked by ERIC as “peer-reviewed” can be easily accessed via a new check-box limiter. The thesaurus has been upgraded to include new terms and the database now contains more than 1,194,000 records and links to more than 100,000 full text documents from ERIC.

CINAHL Plus with full text


CINAHL Plus with Full Text database is a comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 560 journals indexed in CINAHL. Of those, nearly 400 have cover-to-cover indexing in CINAHL, and of those, more than 230 are not available with full text from any other EBSCO database. This authoritative file contains full text for many of the most used journals in the CINAHL index- -with no embargo. With more than 600,000 full-text articles dating back to 1937, CINAHL Plus with Full Text is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health literature. This EBSCO database also features author affiliations, searchable cited references, research instruments, evidence-based care sheets and continuing education modules.

Note that the OVID access will only last to March, so get your users migrating!

CAB abstracts is a bibliographic database compiled by CAB International. It covers the significant research and development literature in the fields of agriculture, forestry, aspects of human health, human nutrition, animal health, and the management and conservation of natural resources. CAB abstracts indexes articles, books, conferences, reports and other kinds of literature dated 1910 to the present.

Note this product will be paid from library funds for Veterinary Medicine.

  • tabs being replaced by left-menu listings and a cleaner and more modern look and feel.

Online Access to Blackwell Publishing Journals

All institutional subscriptions to Blackwell Publishing journals include an element of online access. For the first time in 2007, Standard print subscriptions will include online access to the current and two previous years’ content, increased from the one year previously offered. Premium subscriptions include print plus online access to current content, content dating back to January 1st 1997, and OnlineEarly articles published online before print. Online Only subscriptions include the same access rights as Premium. Both Premium and OnlineOnly subscriptions include archival rights to paid for content. In most cases, Standard subscriptions are at 90% of the Premium price and Online Only subscriptions are at 85% of the Premium price. Access is provided through Blackwell Synergy.

The database has grown to more than 62,000 pages of text and images. Included are biographies, autobiographies, personal narratives, speeches, diaries, letters, and oral histories. Full-length reference works also are included to give background and context to the narratives. North American Indian Biographical Database is dedicated to telling the life stories of both the well-known historical figures such as Pocahontas and Sitting Bull, and also the lesser-known men and women whose day-to-day experiences give an equally valuable portrayal of Indian culture.


Newly added materials include several major contemporary works from University of California Press, University of New Mexico Press, University of Nebraska Press, and Coyote Books.

New Product Announcement--->Signal Transduction Knowledge Environment (STKE)

We have started a subscription to Signal Transduction Knowledge Environment (STKE), one of the most highly-requested titles via Document Delivery over the past few years.

From the STKE website:

"Signal transduction is the study of how cells control their own and each others' behaviors through chemical signals. Signal transduction research is an intensely active field of biomedical research and is of interest to a broad array of scientists. Science's STKE should be useful to the scientists who specialize in signal transduction, as well as the many scientists who need to follow and apply the current findings of this field even though their primary interest may not be in signal transduction mechanisms themselves."

ArtStor upgrade

Contemporary American Architecture and Public Art

ARTstor Digital Library recently added over 600 images focused on contemporary architecture and public art in the western United States.

ARTstor is now actively collaborating with a wide range of living artists and estates of modern artists. A collaboration with artist Elizabeth Peyton has allowed us to add to the ARTstor Digital Library images of 173 works by this remarkable contemporary American painter and draughtsman.

Ghiberti’s “Gates of Paradise”: Additional Images


To complement the existing 590 color photographs of Lorenzo Ghiberti’s “Gates of Paradise” available in the ARTstor Digital Library, we recently released approximately 150 black-and-white photographs of frieze elements in their state prior to the recent cleaning campaign.
